This is an index of all 5 volumes of the "Vermont Historical Gazetteers," by Abby Hemenway. There is a name index and a subject index. Although there are Civil War soldiers listed in the volumes, ther are not included in this index unless some material fact is mentioned in the text not included in the "Revised Roster of Vermont Volunteers, 1861-66," published by the state in 1892.
"Vermont Historical Gazetteer Vol. I," by Abby Hemenway, 1867. (115 mb) 1096 pages. This is Vol I of several volumes done by Hemenway of the state of Vermont. This volume covers the counties of Addison, Bennington, Caledonia, Chittenden and Essex. .
"Vermont Historical Gazetteer Vol. II," by Abby Hemenway, 1871. (77.3 mb) 1209 pages. This volume covers the counties of Franklin, Grand-Isle, Lamoille, and Orange. Also including the natural history of Chittenden County and index to Vol. I completed.
"Vermont Historical Gazetteer Vol. III," by Abby Hemenway, 1877. (115 mb) 1245 pages. This is Vol III and covers the counties of Orleans and Rutland.
"Vermont Historical Gazetteer Vol. IV," by Abby Hemenway, 1882. (108 mb) 1200 pages. Vol. IV covers the towns of Washington County, with histories of the Town of Swanton, in Franklin Co., Groton, in Caledonia Co., and the additional history of the Town of Hubbardton, in Rutland Co.
